The valley of monsters – Vulcano

They look like crouching lions, huge bears reared up and ready to attack, eagles and incredible dinosaurs. These are the monsters to be found in the valley of the same name: huge volcanic rocks that the sudden cooling of the lava froze into some frightening and unusual attitudes.

You can reach the Valley of the Monsters on foot. In the north-east of the Vulcanello peninsula, there’s an asphalt road that runs past all the local villas to reach a junction: turn right and follow the road for a while until you find a large lava field. The whole area, covered with fine black sand, is dotted with these “monsters”.
